Good Work Assembly

This week the theme for Good Work was ‘Good Behaviour’

1G- Bismah Nadim &Arya Ghani

1H- Mahidur Rehman &Halima Ali

1P-

2C – Faiqa Sajid & Zeenat Mahmood

2L – Tasnim Begum & Arib Mahmood

2T –

3L –. Muneeb Manaf & Sareena Ilyas

3P – Da-Da Ramsey & Bazla Nasir

3S – Bashar Muhammed & Maria Begum

4B – Mariam Murtaza & Mustafa Kabiri

4H – Arooj Ahmed & Mozhda Ghafari

4K – Subhaan Mahmood & Nimrah Nadeem

5B – Shahima Uddin & Ismaaeel Jamal

5R – Wissam Ziad & Raneem Mohammed

5S – Tayyaba Raja & Haider Ali

6D – Samra Amir & Faisal Miah

6F –

6W – Zara Khan & Sarshar Qamar

Birchy went to 6D for his visit to Ghyll Head , and Little Birchy went to 2C for a fantastic Eid party, and excellent behaviour.

Respect for our neighbours!

Parking: Some parents are continuing to park over resident’s driveways, even when there are white lines painted on the road! Our Governors have had no choice but to inform the local council, and cars continuing to do so may be towed away.

Litter: We are really embarassed that residents are complaining about our children throwing litter into their gardens. This includes copies of our school newsletter! Do everyone a favour – PUT RUBBISH IN THE BIN!

School PE Kit

All of our KS2 children have now been given a red Birchfield’s T-shirt for P.E. Please ensure that your child has their new kit in school on their P.E. days. Parents of KS1 children can purchase red T-shirts from the office for £4.

Now that the weather is becoming colder children may wear black jogging bottoms for Games lessons.

School Uniform

Increasingly children are coming to school in hoodies and jeans etc. We kindly ask parents and carers to ensure that children have appropriate school clothes. Often the children are engaged in activities that could result in their other clothes being damaged.

Sensible footwear

Can we ask that parents and carers ensure that children have sensible black footwear for school that will keep their feet dry. Ideally children need to wear a black, well soled shoe that will keep their feet dry.

As Foundation Stage are outside for a lot of the day Wellingtons are fine to change into, but these are too uncomfortable to wear all day in Y1-6.

Football Cards

Some of our children are collecting Football Cards. May I remind children and families that if they are seen in class they will be confiscated, and will not be returned. This follows an incident where a Y5 child went into a teacher’s handbag to retrieve his cards having broken the rules. If there are more problems relating to football cards they will be banned altogether.

Birchy went to 3S for great group work, and Little Birchy went to 1H for great behaviour.

Book Fair

School will be hosting a Scholastic book fair, in the hall, each evening after school next week. The fair will be open from 3:30pm to 4pm.

Parking

We politely remind parents that they must not, under any circumstances, park in our staff car park at the beginning and end of the school day.

Cross Country

Well done to our boys and girls cross-country running teams. Both teams have made massive improvements ranking far higher than the previous week, despite the awful weather.

Coats and Footwear

We would like to politely remind parents that children need to be wearing coats and sensible shoes for school. There are times when your child will be outside in the rain, or when the ground is wet. Even if your child comes to school by car, they must have appropriate clothing for any eventuality.

Birchfields Big Draw

This week all children spent an entire day focusing on sketching portraits. Each class paired up with another class from a different phase in school. The staff and children really enjoyed the day, and produced some superb work. Thank you to Mrs. Glackin for organising the day.

Leadership Pathways

Last week some of our Middle Leadership Team completed their work on the Leadership Pathways programme. This helps to develop their leadership skills and prepare them for the next steps in their career. Congratulations to Mr. Booth, Miss. Coleman, Mrs. Delf and Mr. Pickering.

Spitting

Some staff have noticed that some children, and some parents have been spitting in the school grounds. We respectfully ask people not to do this, and to help us keep our school a safe, clean and pleasant place to be.

Chinese Visitors

This week a group of teachers fromBeijingcame to visit our school. The visit was extremely successful for staff and children. We hope to send more of our teachers toBeijingnext year, and for some Chinese pupils to visit our school in the future. We have also planned some joint projects for our pupils to be involved with which will take place via e-mail and the internet.
